Wilderness Therapy

Approach 10

It is a very uncommon adventure-based therapy used to formulate a different lifestyle.

Lifestyle plays a vital role in crafting our identity. With positive life experiences, new foldings are formed in the brain. In wilderness therapy, new and different life experiences and skills are learned. If only the subject learns new skills, a higher functioning brain can be formed. For this to happen, the subject’s action needs to be changed to a medium where the subject interacts with the surroundings to create a biophilic effect. The basic nature of the human is innative, that is, to get closer to nature. It is essential for genetic predisposition organic growth. It leads to higher brain function, new neuron connections are formed, synapsis connections are established. If new neurons are not formed, these connections are lost.

Note: We recommend you to schedule an appointment or call us before hospital/clinic visit or for online treatment. This will avoid unnecessary waiting (few sessions take 1.5 hours) when our psychologist is consulting with a prebooked client.

It’s the sole discretion of the consulting psychologist to decide if you need Wilderness Therapy or any other therapy. What treatment needs to be carried out is decided at the end of the first consultation. During the first consultation, the psychologist will talk with you for 1 - 1.5 hours. The psychologist will analyse and try to understand the cause of the psychological or mental illness. The psychological diagnosis is explained to you at the end of the consultation time. A remedy or treatment or therapy (which, of course, includes the coping mechanisms) shall be discussed with you. If any sessions are required, the psychologist will explain to you and what you can expect from it. Due to the physical, cognitive, and social demands of wilderness therapy, this form of treatment is not effective with elderly people, young children or people who face physical disability. The approach may also be ineffective or unsafe for people who experience severe or chronic mental health issues.
